There are several actions you can take to help further the goals of the Project on the Judiciary.

First, please consider writing your Senators to convey the importance of having Natives on the federal bench.  Specifically, urge them to support the nomination of qualified American Indians and Alaska Natives for federal judicial vacancies within your state.  We have included a sample letter for your reference, as well as a link to the contact information for each senator.

Next, we encourage you to write a letter to the President of the United States urging him to nominate qualified American Indians and Alaska Natives to the federal bench.  We have provided a sample letter for this as well.  Or, you may contact the President about this issue through the Internet, by using this link: http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact.

Also, please feel free to refer this website to persons in the legal community, tribal advocates, government officials, or everyday citizens interested in the democratic process.  One of the most important tools for change is public education.

Lastly, start the discussion.  By this we mean get the word out that this is a serious issue when discussing justice in Indian Country.  Often times, people are unaware of this issue, yet, when fully informed, they quickly understand its far-reaching significance.
